18/1/2009 - AMMS09 offsets Carbon Footprint
In another first for AMMS09, it will be the only event of its kind in Western Australia to take on-board a Carbon Offset Partner.
Carbon Conscious Ltd, based in Subiaco Western Australia, is an Australian company producing carbon credits through ‘carbon farming’ - the planting of Mallee Eucalypt trees in Australia’s wheatbelt region.
This is achieved through the Carbon Capture Program and involves partnering with landholders, carbon emitters and businesses under a form of carbon share farming to deliver benefits for each stakeholder.
These benefits include an offset of carbon emissions for business and significant environmental benefits to farmers and landholders through the reduction of the effects of salinity on their land.
Carbon Conscious combines its extensive experience in the Mallee Eucalypt, agricultural and funds management industries to deliver these benefits.
According to the company, its objective is to be a leading supplier of carbon credits to the ever expanding national and international markets. “We strive to be the company of choice for carbon emitters and businesses looking for quality and certainty of carbon credit supply in sufficient commercial volumes.”
Peter Aleksander said that having a carbon offset partner for such a high profile event was simply the right thing to do given the ongoing push to stem the effects of climate change.
“We’re already cutting out hundreds of hours in airline travel by bringing this event to Perth instead of having delegates fly into the eastern states, so we thought why not take the environmental savings even further.
“Carbon Conscious is a local business and we hope its involvement with AMMS09 will see many more businesses across Perth and beyond use their services to reduce their overall carbon footprint.”
18/1/2009 - AMMS09 excitment starts to build
AMMS09 excitement is ramping up at the start of the new year, with some of Perth’s most well known businesses and organisations now signed up for the two day event.
Some of the brands represented include the West Coast Eagles, Synergy, Horizon Power, Future Logic, the Perth Zoo, Lexus of Perth, ATS Workforce, Tattoo Creative, AACL, Central TAFE, Tecside and the Department of Industry and Resources.
They join Major Supporting Partner Bartercard and a host of other companies (see below) keen to be associated with the biggest marketing event to ever land on Perth’s shores.
Event founder Peter Aleksander said feedback about the event so far has been “quite amazing”.
“People are telling us that they’ve been waiting for something like this to come to Perth for years - forever to be honest.
“Not only do we get the chance to tap into the marketing genius of our guest speakers, we’ll also have two days of invaluable networking among some of the true innovators and leaders in the WA business community - people who really want to shake the tree.
“If economic times do get much tougher in a hurry, it’ll be the AMMS09 delegates with the marketing and business strategies in place to ride out in front of the pack.”
Limited places are still available for AMMS09, with a $200 discount on the full delegate rate available until 20 February, or until sold out. ONLY 210 seats are available in total, so early registration is encouraged.

1/12/2008 - Marketing heavyweights set to descend on Perth
Perth is set to play host to the biggest marketing and business conference in the State’s history, with details of the Australian Masters Marketing Summit 2009 (AMMS09) to be announced at an exclusive cocktail event next week. AMMS09, the brainchild of Yellow Empire founder Peter Aleksander, will bring together 19 of the world’s most high profile marketing gurus for two days of education and insight on March 17 and 18 at the Sheraton Hotel.
The event will be launched next Monday, 1 December, at Pure Bar in Subiaco. “This event was born out of a desire to bring the world’s heavy hitters in the marketing game to us – to make Perth the destination for a change and create an event that really is world class,” Mr Aleksander said.
“To that end I’ve secured industry leaders from around the globe, including the US, Asia, Europe, the UK and Australia, to share their expertise in an environment that encourages creativity and collaboration. “At long last, Perth’s marketing, advertising, promotions and event management people will have access to the elite of their peer groups – the innovators of our generation - without having to travel across the country to do so. “It’s a chance to tap into the latest trends, mind-sets, practises and strategies from the greatest minds representing the leading brands that shape the marketing world and its consumers,” he said.
Mr Aleksander said the goal of the conference was for delegates to leave “armed with an arsenal of new ideas, solutions and strategies that can be immediately built into marketing budgets to drive revenue growth in 2009”. The event will provide valuable marketing information to a wide audience, providing beneficial tools to assist small and medium sized businesses through to national and international brands.

04/11/2008 - Grady Goes Back to Back at the 2008 Handa Open
2007 Handa Open Champion Wayne Grady has once again shown his dominance at Concord Golf Club where he secured the prestigious Australian Senior Open title for the second year in a row.
The final round of the Handa Open got under way on Sunday morning in benign conditions and a close race was imminent from the start. Defending Champion Grady was paired with 2007 rival David Merriman and New South Welshman George Serhan and all got off to positive starts for the final round.
Playing in the penultimate group was another tournament favourite and serious contender Stewart Ginn who was paired with first round leader New Zealander Stuart Reese and 1995 Australian Senior Open Champion Noel Ratcliffe.
Grady set the early pace with a birdie on the par 3 fourth hole and followed it up with birdies on the fifth and eighth to turn 3 under par for the day. Merriman and Ginn stayed close on Grady’s tail and provided a lot of heat on the back 9. As Grady parred the tenth and eleventh Ginn picked up two birdies and closed the gap to 2 strokes on the reigning champion.
But it was Merriman who provided some fireworks after being one over through 8 holes. In a short burst of brilliant golf he quickly applied the pressure with 3 consecutive birdies on the 9th, 10th and 11th and a further birdie on the 13th proving the 2007 runner up was not quite ready to hand over the title to Grady once again.
They exchanged blows until the last hole where Grady held a 2 shot lead over Merriman and with all 3 contenders parring the last, the Handa Open trophy and Australian Senior Open title was once again presented to Wayne Grady.
Merriman joked that whoever was in charge of tournament invites should really ensure that Grady is not invited back in 2009 and Grady commended Merriman once again for his brilliant attitude and pressure he applied throughout the tournament. It was a typically jovial occasion that exemplifies the Senior golfers’ attitudes and assures more corporate and public support in this sector of professional golf. And who better to lead the way than the two time champion and popular winner, Wayne Grady.
