2/3/2009 - Adding value to your brand - its not just about carbon offsets!

Carbon Conscious is the official carbon offset partner of the AMMS09. “So what?”  you might be asking.

Our decision to be involved was an easy one. AMMS09 allows us to communicate with you, the marketing experts, and provides an opportunity to invite you to consider a cost effective means of enhancing the value of your brand.

Climate change and carbon offsets are the current buzz words in the media and for good reason. That said, it’s not just about the carbon offsets at Carbon Conscious. Our environmental plantings offer a host of positive effects that can be easily reflected in your brand. Reducing dryland salinity and soil erosion, generating jobs in rural and metropolitan Australia, providing wildlife corridors for native animals and increasing the productivity of marginal farmland, to name a few.

Now more than ever, companies are looking for ways to become environmentally responsible whilst at the same time remaining profitable.

Most companies are also experiencing a shift in the mindset of staff and customers. As we all become more aware of the effects of climate change, our expectations of our employers and the companies that sell the products we buy, are changing.

There’s not only the issue of ensuring a healthy, habitable world for future generations, but also some serious commercial realities to consider. As part of the supply chains of bigger businesses, smaller players will also need to minimise their greenhouse gas emissions, if not strive to be carbon neutral.

Where does your company sit with this issue?

2/2/2009 - Want a slice of the $42 billion dollar pie?

The Federal Government’s $42 billion dollar stimulus package will be a welcome shot in the arm for the weakening Australian economy and there will be plenty of competition among businesses to share in the resulting spending windfall.

Sure, some of that money will go towards debt consolidation, paying for school fees and other essentials that won’t necessarily flow into the market, but much of it will and it’s in every business owner’s best interests to be at the front of the line to secure a slice of the pie.

As I’ve said before, in the current climate it’s critical that your business stand out from the crowd to attract maximum market share. Cutting your marketing spend and retreating to a dark corner to try and ride this downturn out is a sure fire way to shrivel on the vine and disappear.

And when there’s $42 billion to suddenly go around you need to have marketing strategies in place to put your business at the top of mind of every person wondering just what they’re going to do with that $950 cheque.

AMMS09 provides a hand-picked line-up of the world’s leaders in marketing know-how to help business owners shape their own strategy for 2009 and beyond. Quite simply, our delegates will come away far better equipped to deal with the current economic crisis and to grab that slice of pie.

What strategies does your business have in place to do the same?

20/1/2009 - My Space MD talks about AMMS09

In the first of a series of speaker Q&As, Rebekah Horne talks about why it’s “do or die” time for businesses to get their marketing strategies right.

Why have you come on board as a speaker for AMMS09?

MySpace has changed the way Australians use the internet – put simply it’s allowed them to transfer their offline world online, people now view their MySpace account as their own personal internet address similar to their offline street address – a place where they socialise and meet up with friends in an environment that reflects their tastes, interests and style.

It’s their online home – their social destination. AMMS09 will provide a forum to discuss the ways in which marketeers can tap into this community in a credible, cost-effective and measurable way.

Why is it important for WA business owners to focus on their marketing strategies right now?

We are in the midst of a worsening economic crisis, so WA marketers and advertisers (like their Aussie and international counterparts) need to be searching for innovative and cost-effective ways to both connect and engage with their customers.

What do you see as the future in the marketing industry, in Australia and internationally?

It’s our belief that we’re at the first phase – the tip of the iceberg of the new social web. Social destinations like MySpace are pushing the larger web to become more personal, portable and collaborative. It’s a harsh reality but advertisers and marketers have to do or die in an increasingly digital world.

What will delegates take away from your presentation – why should they come?

AMMS09 delegates will be able to cut through the jargon and get real insights into how the social media landscape in Australia is shaping up.

Through the use of video, case studies and many years of passion and commitment to the online industry, I hope to offer some tangible and digestible social media solutions for a breadth of businesses.

18/1/2009 - AMMS09 offsets carbon footprint

In another first for AMMS09, it will be the only event of its kind in Western Australia to take on-board a Carbon Offset Partner.

Carbon Conscious Ltd, based in Subiaco Western Australia, is an Australian company producing carbon credits through ‘carbon farming’ - the planting of Mallee Eucalypt trees in Australia’s wheatbelt region.

This is achieved through the Carbon Capture Program and involves partnering with landholders, carbon emitters and businesses under a form of carbon share farming to deliver benefits for each stakeholder.

These benefits include an offset of carbon emissions for business and significant environmental benefits to farmers and landholders through the reduction of the effects of salinity on their land.

Carbon Conscious combines its extensive experience in the Mallee Eucalypt, agricultural and funds management industries to deliver these benefits.

According to the company, its objective is to be a leading supplier of carbon credits to the ever expanding national and international markets. “We strive to be the company of choice for carbon emitters and businesses looking for quality and certainty of carbon credit supply in sufficient commercial volumes.”

Peter Aleksander said that having a carbon offset partner for such a high profile event was simply the right thing to do given the ongoing push to stem the effects of climate change.

“We’re already cutting out hundreds of hours in airline travel by bringing this event to Perth instead of having delegates fly into the eastern states, so we thought why not take the environmental savings even further.

“Carbon Conscious is a local business and we hope its involvement with AMMS09 will see many more businesses across Perth and beyond use their services to reduce their overall carbon footprint.”

1/12/2008 - Marketing Heavy weights decend on Perth

Perth is set to play host to the biggest marketing and business conference in the State’s history at the Australian Masters Marketing Summit 2009 (AMMS09). And this is where we’ll be blogging about it!

AMMS09, the brainchild of Yellow Empire founder Peter Aleksander, will bring together 19 of the world’s most high profile marketing gurus for two days of education, insight and collaborative brilliance on March 17 and 18 at the Sheraton Hotel, Perth.

The countdown to the event is now on and this blog is where you can find all the latest news, links to media activity and one-on-one interviews with some of the key speakers who will be flying in from around the globe.

And if you haven’t already got a ticket, it really is time to put the skates on and visit the website to sign up before 20 February to save $200. There are a limited number of places available and with the economic downturn not about to go away any time soon, this conference really can not be missed by anyone who wants to put their business ahead of the competition.

And who better to outline what the AMMS09 hype is all about, than the man himself, Peter Aleksander:

So Peter, why bring this to Perth - isn’t it easier just to jump on a plane and head east?

“No, that’s exactly why we’ve done this. AMMS09 was born out of a desire to bring the world’s heavy hitters in the marketing game to us for a change - to make Perth the destination and create an event that really is world class, right here. Perth punches above its weight and we deserve this kind of event.

“That being the case, I’ve scoured the globe and secured industry leaders from the US, Asia, Europe, the UK and Australia. You come along and you’ll get to share their expertise in an environment that encourages creativity and collaboration. Rub shoulders over a drink, flick them your business card, ask the questions you’re burning to know - that’s what it’s all about.”

What’s the bottom line - what will people get out of this?

“I can’t stress enough how valuable it’ll be for Perth’s marketing, advertising, promotions and event management people to have access to the elite of their peer groups, the innovators of our generation, without having to travel across the country to do so.

“It’s a chance to tap into the latest trends, mind-sets, practises and strategies from the greatest minds representing the leading brands that shape the marketing world and its consumers. This isn’t the sort of opportunity that comes along every day, or every year for that matter. This is THE biggest gathering of marketing minds we’ve seen in Perth.”

And once it’s over, what then?

“The goal of the conference is for delegates to leave armed with an arsenal of new ideas, solutions and strategies that can be immediately built into marketing budgets to drive revenue growth in 2009. Sure we’re facing tough times, so can anyone in business afford not to come along? Can anyone afford to let their competitors take the lead in a tight market? I think not.

“And it’s not just for the corporates - AMMS09 will provide valuable marketing information and beneficial tools to assist small and medium sized businesses through to national and international brands.”

Early bird tickets are available until 20 February, with booking details available at www.amms09.com.au
